This is a Chemistry Minor course for students joined for other major programmes. Minor B2 for Zoology students.
Unit 1: Multidisciplinary Nature of Environmental
Studies (12 Hrs.)
Unit 3: Social Issues and the Environment (8 Hrs.)
Atomic Structure , Concept of Equilibrium , Nuclear Chemistry , Analytical Chemistry, Basic principles , Laws of Thermodynamics
Aromaticity, Organic Reaction Mechanism, Electrophilic Substitution Reactions
Describe the phase diagrams of one- and two-component systems. Understand the basic principles of chemical kinetics.
Know the kinetics of various chemical reactions.
Unit 1. Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen
1.4 Diazonium salts - preparation, synthetic transformations of aryldiazonium salts, azo coupling......
Unit 3. Organic Photochemical Reactions
Unit 8. Chemistry of Organic Reagents
This course offers a rigorous, foundational treatment of molecules. We study the nature of chemical bonding and how bonding gives rise to the three-dimensional structure of matter. We explore how the macroscopic properties of substances can be interpreted in terms of atomic and molecular structure.
