It is the final step in taking a story from script to screen, and the stage when a film comes to life. Post-production is part of the process of filmmaking, video production, and photography. Post-production includes all stages of production occurring after shooting or recording individual program segments. Editing, Sound mixing, Visual Effects, Color Grading etc are the major processes in the post-production stage.

Compositing is a part of Visual Effects in the process of filmmaking. Visual effects (abbreviated VFX) is the process by which imagery is created or manipulated outside the context of a live-action shot in filmmaking. Compositing is the combining of visual elements from separate sources into single images, often to create the illusion that all those elements are parts of the same scene. Live-action shooting for compositing is variously called "chroma-key", "blue screen", "green screen" and other names.
